Make a Google Form: “Exit Interview for Your Last Excuse”
September 9, 2025-Tactical Tuesday: Guerrilla Marketing Tip
Think about all the excuses people give themselves: “I don’t have time,” “I’ll do it later,” “It’s not for me,” “I have problems saying NO.” Give them a funny resignation form for those excuses. It’s something unexpected that will give people a chuckle, and with all the stresses out there in the world, it might be a little bit of self-therapy. Not only will they get hopefully get a little laugh, but maybe self-prompt themselves to stop making excuses and help themselves change just a little.
While this might not be a suitable promotion for every kind of business, think of how you can tie the final Thank You page text they land on into a soft-sell promotion or something you want them to do. Treat yourself to a haircut, cup of coffee, a good dinner, a new book to read, a new plant, etc. or visit our website or like you on a social media platform.
Sample Final Page Copy: “Congratulations! You Fired Your Excuse! Your excuse has officially been escorted out of the building. HR is shredding its badge, and Security is walking it to the parking lot as we speak. Now that you have shown your excuse to the door. Don’t forget to give yourself a little treat/self love/special.
We are waiting. (Name of business and website). Optional small incentive.”
Google Forms are free and fairly easy to set up. This can additionally be a great way to capture emails for your mailing list. Make sure people can opt out though, and that they know they are being added otherwise.
If you are looking for help with Google Forms, Google has a great help section dedicated to it. https://support.google.com/docs/answer/6281888
You also may want to reassure them that if you are collecting email addresses, you will not share any content they share without their explicit permission, and if you do share it (with permission) it won’t include any identifying information. If you think about it, fun comments that are added could be an additional fun source of social content. (with permission!!).
